Jonathan Kay

Academic Associate

Jonathan's practice focuses on blurring the boundaries of art and science to render the unseen and challenge notions of landscape. He is interested in photographic interventions within the landscape that are site specific and responsive, using observation and data collection. Complementing this mode of enquiry is his ongoing active engagement with climate change concerns and how photography can be used strategically to synthesise information into visualisations. He is interested in facilitating an emotional response and intimate connection based on both factual and poetic modes of communicating to achieve a contemplative and lasting effect to shift behaviour and incite change.

Jonathan is a Lecturer at Whiti o Rehua School of Art, Toi Rauwhārangi College of Creative Arts, Massey University.
